The Regency Bathroom
In this Grade 2* Listed House, previous conversion works created long proportions for the main Bathroom. DECORUM DECORATING recommended the use of the terraccota colour on the far walls around the window and recess to alleviate the long proportions of the bathroom. The strong colour also served to highlight the free standing bath and chimes with the many colours of the client's beloved floor rug.
The Edwardian Living Room
This Cole & Son Handprinted Wallpaper from the Ardmore Collection had to be specially ordered by the client. At £395.00 a roll, they called on DECORUM DECORATING to prepare the wall and hang a suitable lining paper before fixing the Wallpaper.
The Master Bedroom
This Handprinted Mural designed by Brighton Artist Sarah Arnett, creates a beautiful feature wall in the bedroom of this home. After spending several hundred pounds on the Mural, the client needed someone they could trust to prepare and hang the paper and DECORUM DECORATING was the company they requested.
This latest project involved another painter. None other than the French Impressionist Painter Claude Monet! The Hand Printed Mural was added to create a feature wall and the sublime colours provide some serenty to our fast paced digital culture. The project was completed by DECORUM DECORATING Brighton.
Pink is the New Grey
These DECORUM DECORATING clients raised a few eyebrows in the local area by deciding to paint their Front Door in this Vibrant Pink. We encouraged their choice of colour as a unique contrast to the existing Grey! The previous waterbased eggshell had not weathered well, so we recommended an oil based paint medium to repel the weather and completed the project by fitting the Brass Door Furniture.
The Victorian Living Room
The clients had already stripped the ceiling and walls but needed a professional service like DECORUM DECORATING to complete the project to a high standard.
The surface required much preparation before hanging a 1000 grade lining paper. Fortunately the original internal architectural features remained.
Once painted, the arch of the bay window creates a pleasing line into the frieze, while the cream woodwork assists to highlight the picture rail and windows.
A breathable emulsion was used to paint the ceiling and walls producing a chalky finish while the woodwork was painted with an oil based eggshell for durability.
The Brittany Farmhouse
Our clients liked the work of DECORUM DECORATING so much they invited us over to their holiday home in Brittany to give the exterior a makeover. This Brittany Farmhouse looked rather dowdy with the dark faded woodwork.
We suggested blue shutters to reflect the colour of the Brittany skies creating a light contrast from the stone walls and slate roof. With the painted white windows and sky blue shutters, the farmhouse takes on a bright and fresh ambience.

We wanted our kitchen and dining room painted but didn’t want the cost of replacing the whole kitchen. We had John from Decorum Decorating remove the tiles and repair the plaster. He then made up paint samples to help us decide on a colour scheme. With the fitting of 22 new handles on the drawers and doors, it was transformed into a kitchen diner from an interiors magazine!

We have been using Decorum Decorating since 2005 and have always been happy with their work.
The attention to detail, care given during the work done and the clean up afterwards have been of a very high standard. We recently needed some wall papering to be done, using an expensive paper. There's no one else I would have trusted with the job.
